A Legacy of Excellence and Innovation in EMS Since 1906

Brewster Ambulance Service, based in Weymouth, Massachusetts, has proudly served New England communities for over a century. Founded in 1906 by George W. Brewster, the company began with horse-drawn carriages, providing vital transport for the sick and injured in the greater Boston area. As technology evolved, so did Brewster Ambulance, transitioning to motorized ambulances to deliver faster and more efficient emergency care.

In 1942, Harold Brewster succeeded his father, leading the company through a transformative 21-year era of growth. By 1963, the leadership mantle passed to Harold’s wife, Marion Brewster, a pioneering female CEO whose 12-year tenure laid the foundation for future innovation. In 1985, their son George Brewster purchased the business, ushering in a period of modernization and expansion. Continuing the family tradition, Mark Brewster and George Jr. assumed leadership in 2010, reinforcing the company’s reputation for excellence and innovation in emergency medical services.

Throughout the 20th century, Brewster Ambulance built a legacy of reliability, partnering with hospitals and healthcare facilities across Massachusetts. It became a regional leader in pre-hospital care and medical transport, setting industry benchmarks. In the 1970s and 1980s, Brewster Ambulance was among the first in New England to implement advanced life support (ALS) systems, ensuring patients received critical care before reaching the hospital.

Today, Brewster Ambulance Service has expanded beyond Massachusetts into Rhode Island and New Hampshire, with 28 locations, over 1,800 team members, and a fleet of more than 400 vehicles. Serving 75% of the Boston market, the company performs over 350,000 transports annually.

Despite its growth, Brewster Ambulance Service remains deeply committed to its roots. With a strong focus on community service, patient care, and innovation, the company continues to lead the EMS industry, setting the highest standards in emergency medical care and transport.
